Or at least closer than the 2012 Clash of the Titans movie one. Heck even the old one got her origins wrong, which the new movie did right.

Its kind of been a while; so I'm not a 100% sure if this is why, but I think its that although Disney took liberty with Medusa's story, they caught what made Medusa an appealing and somewhat sympathizing character. Where as the 2010 Clash of "Titans" just briefly goes into how Medusa became the way she was (Although I will credit that they got the actual origin right as opposed to the 1980s version) and not giving us enough reason to care about her outside of her being a threatening monster. There's also the fact that both movies deviated from Perseus used Medusa's head for.
